I hear that the Susan G. Komen 3-day is really fun and fulfilling.  I’ve been very supportive to my friends who have done it in the past.  There’s no way *I* could personally be on my feet for 3 days straight, but ^5 to those of you who can!  However, it has been brought to my attention several times that Susan G. Komen gives grants to Planned Parenthood.  Hey, this sounds like a great thing to most people.  But I just can’t give my money to any organization that makes abortions easier to obtain.

So if you’re doing the Komen 3-day, good for you, I wish you the best of luck and very few blisters!  But instead of donating to Komen, I will send a donation in your name to the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade.  I have no evidence that the Avon foundation supports abortion directly or indirectly and I fully trust them with my donation.  Hopefully you will understand my convictions and not hold it against me!

Avon Foundation Annual Report

Here’s where I got my info: Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation’s Link to Abortion, specifically the Report on Komen Grants to Planned Parenthood.  You can also find out if your particular Komen chapter offers support to PP via this page: Komen Chapters Supporting Planned Parenthood.  I’m pleased that this means that not all chapters support PP.

I’m not going to go into detail about my stance on abortion – we’ll just make things easy and say that if such a thing MUST exist in this world, it had better be really really hard to obtain and I’m certainly not going to help you.

PLEASE NOTE: I’m also not telling you in any way to not donate to not do the 3-Day.  I only feel that it is my duty to make you aware of their affiliation to abortion.  My goal here is awareness, not telling you what to believe or what to do.  I’d also like to throw a dig at government “help”…we don’t get to see what THEY do with our money, but private organizations have to post annual reports and we are fortunate to have this knowledge right here at our fingertips, so USE IT!!
